Cambridge Who's Who Names Elfreda Jane Perreten Shinehouse Professional of the Year in Higher Education
Ms. Perreten Shinehouse has taught students of Ursinus College for 39 years
TRAPPE, PA, January 26, 2012 /Health and Fitness PR News/ -- Elfreda Jane Perreten Shinehouse, Professor of Biology Emerita of Ursinus College, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Higher Education. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
With 39 years of experience as a professor of biology Emerita for Ursinus College, Ms. Perreten Shinehouse teaches human anatomy, histology, and physiology to primarily pre-med and physical education majors. She became involved in her profession because she liked biology and wanted to be a nurse like her aunt, so she studied physical therapy and made it the focus of her education.
Ms. Perreten Shinehouse received a master's degree equivalent from the University of Pennsylvania in 1953. She is a member of Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society, the American Physical Therapy Association, and Sigma Xi. In 1981, she received the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching and in 1996 she was chosen as a member of Who's Who Among America's Teachers. In years to come, Ms. Perreten Shinehouse hopes to study music theory and piano, and become more active in the church.
