Fitness Formula Clubs Announces Sweatin' for a Cure Event to Benefit Augie's Quest
Fitness Formula Clubs (FFC or ffc.com,) a Chicago-based company that owns, develops and operates full service fitness clubs, has announced a large-scale group fitness class to benefit Augie's Quest.
CHICAGO, IL, September 18, 2011 /Health and Fitness PR News/ -- Fitness Formula Clubs (FFC or ffc.com,) a Chicago-based company that owns, develops and operates full service fitness clubs, has announced a large-scale group fitness class to benefit Augie's Quest.
This is FFC's fourth year participating in Augie's Quest through the fitness industry's program, Clubs for the Cure; FFC has raised and donated $100,000 since 2008 to benefit the local Chicago Muscular Dystrophy Association in conjunction with Augie's Quest. All money raised goes towards the funding and research of ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. An expensive disease to treat, every minute of laboratory research towards ALS costs $75.
Augie's Quest is named after Augie Nieto, the founder of Life Fitness (the world's largest fitness equipment manufacturer), and a friend of thousands in the fitness industry nationwide. Diagnosed with ALS in 2005, Augie went on to write his own book, Augie's Quest, and founded Augie's Quest solely to raise funds for this nerve degenerating disease. To date, Augie's Quest has raised over $29 million by partnering with health clubs and affiliates nationwide.
To raise funds, FFC will be holding a large-scale group fitness class at its Union Station location, 444 W Jackson Blvd, in Chicago's loop. The class will take place on the double basketball court at the facility, allowing for up to 400 participants. It will be held on Saturday morning, October 1 from 9:00am - 11:00am. $25 is the minimum cost to participate, and all proceeds will go to Augie's Quest. The format of the class will be:
• Zumba - you're invited to "join the party!" Class taught by Dominick DeFranco, Kendra Neff, and Carlos Morris
• FitKick - FFC's signature kickboxing format taught by Kristin Strom, Tamara Barber and Lois Miller
• SPECIAL PREVIEW of Booty Beat, a NEW group fitness format by Rebecca Lee
• Yoga - leave this class feeling refreshed, centered and focused, thanks to David Bohn
"We are so pumped for this event," says FFC Group Fitness Manager, Lois Miller. "To be able to bring together our best instructors for an extended format class is great, but to be able to do it to benefit ALS and Augie's Quest is really, really special."
